i think that is cool looking and all but i still think like i said last time this thread appeared that it looks like photoshop job. even the group buy pics look like they were photoshopped. but all in all i think i would buy one.

Instructions are also for sale on eBay for like $60 ... hehe ...

Anyone have the instructions, and want to post them... for free!!!
I'm sure you could just go to home depot and buy the nessecary hardware.

i was the one who posted that before, and from what i heard, the guy who sold the instructions on ebay was a crook and ripped everyone off....that's why no one has instructions that they can post on here.....

if they made these for my car, I would buy them in a second!
But do they not come with instructions or what's the deal?
I posted a question asking them if they had instructions, and also if they have them for other Hondas, so we'll see what they say.

the pictures do look photoshopped, does anybody know anyone that has bought the kit?
supafly1024
01-29-2002, 08:57 AM
I haven't bought the kit or anything, because I don't have a Civic. However I have seen a car with this trunk conversion at a show I went to so I don't think that pic is photoshopped.

that pic IS photoshopped! look at the freaking licence plate! plus the color doesnt even match!

What's wrong with the license plate?

if it's photoshoped hoe come you can see the interior part of the trunk
xil akuma lix
01-29-2002, 08:00 PM
1. the licence plate isnt in the right perspective
2. the whole trunk looks like urethane and not like the rest of the body(except kit)
3. the altezzas are different on the car and trunk are different
unless someone can post a pic with a different view ill think otherwise

That is possible to do, even though I think that pic is photoshopped. It's possible because anything is possible. :) I think that would be great for a show car. :)

01-29-2002, 11:24 PM
that is not photoshop. the liscense plate is molded into the trunk at an angle for show. the car is just not painted thats all. think U CAN SEE THE INTERIOR
if you think about it, it requires basic hardware parts. its pretty simple now that i have thought of it... it takes a bolt and a hinge. i really don't feel like describing it right now.. maybe tommorrow heh heh (if people care for it)

OK guys - I'm gonna give you the full inside deal - Do not buy those kits. I bought one off eBay a couple of months ago and it is a total scam. I was sent a set of hinges and a latch and some poorly explained/copied instructions.
So, here's what I'm going to do for you guys - just to piss off those scaming @$$holes - I'm going to give you all the details of my "purchase" for free.
================
Flip-Flop Trunk Lid Instructions
----------------
Materials:
1 - 2" Window Bolt (7 screws included)
2 - 3" Lt Strap Hinges (13 screws included)
----------------
Instructions:
1. With trunk open, mark the trunk lid at the top of the stock brackets.
2. Remove your trunk lid by unbolting 4 bolts. Do not remove the stock brackets, only the trunk lid.
3. Attach the flat side of the enclosed hinge to trunk lid below the marked. With the bottom of the hinge facing down.
4. You will have to bend hinge.
5. With help reattach trunk lid to stock brackets using curved hinge. Be sure to pre-drill all holes before mounting new hinge. This hinge will create the fold down effect.
6. Connect enclosed latches about 2 inches from the bottom of the trunk lid. Be sure they are mounted on the inside of the stock brackets.
7. Mark a spot on the stock bracket to drill to allow the latches to latch. Be sure the latch will latch tightly. If it doesn't latch tightly you may have to replace the stock bottom bolts each time you want to fold down you trunk lid.

I don't know if that pic is photoshopped, but there are a few civics here in Orlando with trunks like that. When I first saw it, I was like WTF
Pretty cool!
There is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way in hell I would do this myself. My trunk would either:
A) not close right
b) shit would be crooked :p

I did this mod myself b4 buying the kit and/or reading this post. i just looked at the pics on e-bay and figured it out. the only problem i have is that when it opens it doesnt look exatly like theres. mine kinda falls down a bit and when i close the trunk the back end of the trunk (closest to the rear windshild) doesnt seal tightly like it used to and i sticks up a bit. I think I will try using the window hinges that are talked about in this post and following the directions he gave even though it is basically what i did. hopefully it will solve those problems. Has any one else done this mod and had similar problems. if so what was wrong and how did you fix it?
Thanx

yeah, if they're trying to screw people over, they may as well go for the entire population rather than just the Civic population.

I fell for the ads in Ebay (TWICE, I bid on TWO!)!! Basically what you do is put in a hinge and a lock to hold it into place. Look at your trunk open and imagine pulling the lid horizontal. THAT is all these kits are. LOOKS great, but I have yet to install ANY of this stuff.......I am having concerns about how it will be CLOSED!! ANYONE have experience with this long term??

One thing I really want to know is how it closes?
It seems as if a few people done this and no one complains about how it closes except for one guy who didnt use door hinges.
I keep stuff in my trunk and if water gets into it i'll be mad.
Get some pictures up of how to do it.
If not i might just risk my car and do it and put pictures up myself.
You gotta love digital cameras. HEHE...
Hope someone puts pictures up cuz i dont my car to be the guinea pig.

okay here they are at last. Sorry if this takes a while to load. if you look at my trunk closed it does not close all the way but it is enough to keep water out. i can fix that though by moving the eye of the latch over to the hole that you can see to the left of where it is now. that should close it tighter. also the pic w/ the latch in place is the noramal position of the trunk and the latch open is the flip flop version. i put some epoxy in the screw holes to secure them a bit more. good luck w/ this and i hope it works out. also this is the way that i did it my self. i have no clue if this is how they do it on the e-bay kits.

alright YODA my car is much better looking than anything you got and just cause your too poor to buy the 5 dollar parts doesnt mean you gotta get all pissy about it. we all herd ya the first time when you told us you didnt like it so i dont even know why you keep reading this post. nothing better to do i suppose. and as for the it doesnt even close right comment maybe if you had learned to read at some point in your life you'd notice that i explain the simple fix to prevent that.
Anyway now that i got that outta my system after holding it back the first time...
if you could find a velcro that was really strong it would sorta be a good idea. HOWEVER there is a problem with velcro. if someone knows that you have velcro or even attempts to break into your trunk by pulling up that side of your trunk the velcro will come undone which will leave someone enough room (if their smart) to reach in and pull the trunk release cable. I know this because while i was showing to a good handful of people WHO APPRICIATE NEW IDEAS LIKE THIS i accidentally locked my keys in the trunk but luckily for me the latches were not hooked and i was able to get into my trunk that way.
I'm looking into some new ways to latch the trunk but their not necessary. the latches will work fine if you put them in the right places. just check everything b4 you go drilling. if i moved the eyes over to the left where ialread have a hole it will close all the way.
