well I'd think that it would rattle more now that you are unbolting some spots and putting on parts that dont really "HOLD down" the trunk.

well to fix your rattling problem put a cushion behind your license plate.
That is what rattles.
I juss put a bunch of tape behind my license plate and it doesn't rattle as much as before.

i just had a thought.......the hood latches on a bunch of old cars are basically a pin that drops straight down into a hole to latch. it would take a little bit of cutting and drilling, but if u put one of these on each front corner of the trunk lid (closest to the rear glass), and hooked cables up to the regular trunk latch, you wouldnt need the eye hooks, and it would lock all the way around, plus it would fit flush and there wouldnt be any water leaks. it would be pretty complicated, but that would probably be the most professional-looking job.

327belair, i understand what oyu mean...drill through the support arms of the trunk, and some how weld a post for a pin to slip through.
O This is where the pin could fit through, kind of like hood pins
[] This is a post which is welded to the trunk lid
{ }This is the support arms that holds the think
__[]___This is the trunk lid with the post welded (opr attached by some other means) to it.
If i could see that working really well...

that pic might be photoshopped, but that doesnt mean u cant do it to a car. i did it to my civic. and u can do it to any other car as long as it doesnt have hydrolic lifts on it and as long as it isnt a hatch(obviously). i used 2 hinges and some screws. only took about an hour of my time and i didnt have any instructions or pictures to look off of. i have to use 2 hoodpins on the corner of my trunk by the window to keep it flush with the rest of my car. there is another way to do it, but i didnt think of it till i was done puttin in the hoodpins. i would post a pic of my trunk, but it wont let me upload it :frown:

what up everyone.... i was readin thru the posts and desided to sign up.... i have this mod done to my 98 civic... i got hinges and special latches on it for it to sit right... the trunk looks sick.. when i close it.. it closes the same way it always did.. one thing is that the back is like less than a quater inch higher due to the hinges located on the back of the trunk arms.... i'll get pics on here as soon as my friend scans them... if any one has n e questions u can e-mail me at [email protected]... it really is a show stopper.
