Does anyone have pics of sprayed red taillights?

I'm thinking about spraying the orange on my taillights red on a 2000 civic. I ave seen pics of other people doing this to older civics, but the newer ones have a more translucent plastic, and I don't know how they'll look after being sprayed. If anyone has pics or experience please post it. Thanx.

border_project,

I bought the spray at a local race shop. I don't know what it was called (all in japanese). It cost about $15-$20, I don't remember. First you have to take the taillights off your car and lay them flat on the ground. Clean them off with some soapy water or 409 or something. Let that completely dry. Then tape off (masking tape, paper tape) all the areas you don't want to spray and lay them on a towel or somewhere you don't care about getting paint on(I don't care if you spraypaint for a living, it's gonna get everywhere). Then spray across the whole area in one smooth motion, not slowing in any one place. Make sure you start the spray before you're over the lights and stop after you pass them. The stream will be uneven if you don't. I think I did 2 or 3 coats. Let them dry as long as you can between coats (I think half an hour will be okay on sunny day). When you're completely done let them dry for a while (2 or 3 hours). They're actually okay before that, but if it rains on them or anything the first night it might mess them up. Peel the tape off slowly just in case it sticks funny and admire your nice new lights. If you had orange bulbs where you painted get some clear ones, or better yet some red ones. Mine had clear bulbs already and they look fantastic, especially when they're lit up. As far as the spray goes, I've heard some people used a hobby-spray used on model trains and cars by a brand called 'Testors' color 'candy apple red'. It's a matted spray, so you'll have to buy some kind of glossy clearcoat to make them look good. The spray I used way translucent and glossy so they look factory installed. If you want any more pics of them let me know, I have a digital camera so I can put pics up in a snap. That's it. Hope I helped. Let me know how it goes, and better yet post some pics when you're done:frog:

well this doesn't have anything to do with your tail lights, but I found this kinda funny. Your car and the jetta next to it...

and then my civic and my cousin's jetta

WOW, that's kind of creepy. The Jetta is my fiance's. She's not into cars at all, but she chose the jetta with smoked taillights (my kind of girl). Weird!! :frog:

Red taillights

I don't know why you guys like the red taillights. I think the Altezza Euro Taillights look better on any car, Honda or Non-Honda. Oh well, I guess whatever floats your boat.:smoka:
