CRX Dash swap stage 1 complete

Well, I pulled the CRX dash out as well as the sedan dash out and honestly that was pretty easy... I started at 11 and finished at 1:30. I've got pix but the cam is outside and I've gotta do some runnin around so I'll post them up later.

I did a test fit and I've gotta say it looks awesome... now the dash is blue and my cars color scheme is black and red so I need to fix that. I'm wondering about penetrating dye... anybody used it? It's no secret i'm a big guy so I need something for my dash as well as door panels that wont rub off.

Here's the aftermath of me pulling the EX dash out, I also found that the EX has a car alarm in it, the wiring guide is on the top of the unit so I'm gonna keep it in there for when I get my new one from work so install will be easier

Here's the CRX dash after I got it out, no causalties except what was already broken

Here's the test fit, looks good, just needs a color change.

i used dye on my door panels, i knew i couldnt use paint or it would chip off, so i went to a place that recovers nteriors and had them mix me up a 1/2 gallon of the dye to match the rest of the blue

ok 1PhatCX, not a problem, I'll take a bunch of pix when I get more daylight (it's already getting dark and cooling off)

I did go to CarQuest today and I picked up a can of "Vinyl Color" from plastikote. After cleaning my dash and part of the console and scrubbing it down with steel wool (to make sure it bonds) I put one coat on and it looks good. when it dries I'll put a few more coats on and wait for it to cure, then we'll see how good it's holding. If this works I'm gonna pick up a few more cans of it and start on the rest of my interior. I've not forgotten about the important part of my car (the engine) but hey, ya gotz to look good when ya get there

Oh, as a side note if anybody has a DX manual tranny ECU and CRX dash vents they could either sell me cheap or donate it to the cause (I'm not cheap, just broke ) hit me up in a PM or an IM on one of my services... thx

dude, dont bother with masking all that stuff off, just pull the dash. This was the 1st time I ever tried it and I got it out farely easy.

If ya want, I can send some literature on pulling your dash.

I would pull the Dash but i gotta get this done before febuary because my brother has to do work on a car for someone and its gonna be all month i think so i want it looking fairly good untill summer then i'll pull it and swap in a CRX dash prolly. i got all my windows masked right now anyways just need to do my vents and gauges and i can paint. might do it tommorow because i dont work untill night so i'll have all day to do it.

bloody hell i'd never have the guts to mess about with that kind of stuff,

knowin' my luck i'd fuck it all up and then not have a car for about 3 weeks until i fixed (Bodged) it together
