There is a member on here who has one but i foret who. He showed me a pic of the kit as he wanted to remold the bodykit - its not very accurate!!! It doesnt have an engine either. It will still make a good model though.

Do you know of any S14 Silvia model that you can build the engine in Fly? Also, how about any seperate body kit sets for the S14?

I don't recall any recent Silvias with the engine details. Maybe cut RB26 of the Skyline short to make one?

here's the veilside S14s, both fujimi:

Hey p-man, does that primera you built have engine detail? If it does, its the same SR20DE that's in the silvias, so you could possibly do a swap. Hopefully some car kit with the SR20DE has engine detail, I want to make a sweet S14 sometime.

Hey rangerX, that looks like a sweet silvia ^. Do you know anything about it? Or have you done it/know someone who has it? Isn't the SR20DE the "Q's" Version of the Silvia? I'm not planning on doing a HUGE build on this kit, I just want an S14 that looks nice. Maybe one of the accesorie makers will sometime build an SR20DET, that'd be sweet. Hopefully it'll happen someday with all import engines, they have already made resin 454s and 600 big blocks. Hehe, maybe chuck a 454 into the S14 and supercharge it

I haven't done it, but I plan to get a fujimi S14 Ks aero soon. I think Tamiya is the only other manufacturer that makes an S14, and they only make one. Fujimi makes at least 6 or 7 of the S14 alone! I don't know the quality or anything, but Fujimi is usually quite good.

I believe the S14 Qs has an SR20DE and the Ks has an SR20DET. I'm not too sure, we got shafted in North america. All we had here was the 180sx (called the 240sx h/b here) and the S13 coupe (240sx coupe & conv) both had the KA24DE engine in them (which is more powerful than the SR20DE but doesn't have near the potential) and we also got the S14. I believe it came with the SR20DE as base and the KA24DE as an upgrade, but no SR20DET for us

Other cars that had the SR20DET I think are the Pulsar and the Bluebird, but I don't think anybody makes models of those. The North American 200sx SE-R also had the SR20DE in it.... I wish there was a model of this. My girlfriend has a 98 and I'd love to build a replica of it.

Tamiya makes a S13 K's, I have the kit and I also have S13 kits by Fujimi, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Tamiya bought the molds from Fujimi and remanufactured them.

You can always cut the hood off then pop a skyline engine in it!

I don't know if it will help but here's a Fujimi s-14 I built about 3 years ago; It sits up a little high but the quality was fine.

Actually from 89-90 the usdm 240sx got the SOHC ka24e and 91-98 usdm all have the DOHC ka24de. I wouldn't say the KA24de has less potential than the SR. Yes, it revs lower--but it also has .4L of extra displacement to give more low end grunt. Properly turbocharge the KA and you can get over 280rwhp with stock internals. With strengthened internals you can see figures much higher. Or you can go with an SR which drops right in and will safely produce around the mid to high 300s on stock internals...either way, a formidable engine and a very fun car to dr(ift)ive. =)

Not sure about how to fab an SR...it would be hard to make the skyline's rb26 engine look like an SR because you'd have to fabricate new manifolds, change the valve cover (and writing on the valve cover from 24v to 16v )...change the placement of a few fluid reservoirs, etc etc...a lot of work to get it accurate...I say just drop the rb26 into the model's chassis as is...a small minority of owners have done this (or an rb25 swap) on their real life cars, although it requires a lot of labor and usually equates to driveline soup.

Here's the debate on the SR20DE forums about KA VS SR: http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthrea...0&pagenumber=1
I totally agree that the potential is there for the KA. In stock form though it's soooo lazy. I absolutly hated driving that POS, back when they had AWS. So fucking twitchy at high speeds! The KA felt so heavy, felt like it should be in my truck rather than in his car. Upgraded though, it would be a fun machine. Keep in mind that unless you're a very experienced tuner with lots of hook-ups, the KA will be much more expensive to squeeze power out of reliably. Actually, here's a fact that isn't too well known: The KA24DE started out as a mitsubishi engine, the mitsu 2.4 OHC that powered the Dodge D50 and mitsu compact pickup trucks.
Now if you want potential, check out the new SR20VET, a brand new SR20DET with variable vavle timing!! I believe its pushing around 275 HP at this time. It'll be a while though before we get them over here for cost effective swaps.
Anyway, the SR20DE in that SE-R feels perfect. I'm starting to tune her car. I'm not big into tuning small engines, more of a pushrod V8 guy, but damn that car will be able to rip if she'll let me drop a few grand into it!

The only rebox Tamiya did, that I remember of, were two BMWs.
And I think Tamiya's S13 came out before Fujimi. Tamiya's S13 is much better than Fujimi in terms of overall quality.
