Angry Drunk threw a rock at my car...

Ok, this is what I've pieced together so far:
On Sun. night at approx. 4 a.m., my neighbor's son was piss-drunk and got mad at his own truck because it wouldn't start. Now right next to his truck is the apartment landscaping consisting of several hundred rocks ranging from 4" to 12", so this idiot decided to put a rock through his truck's windshield. Now I should mention that this won't significantly lower the value of his truck, because it's a early 80's Nissan (210?) with paint that apparently used to be red, but is now oxidized/rusted to an orangish brownish color, and that's on the parts of the truck that still HAVE paint. Oh, and there were no covers on the seats and no windows, the bumper was hanging off, etc. He was parked 3 feet away from my car, and either one of his throws missed, or the boulder (we're talking a rock 7"x7"x6") bounced and hit my hood...There's a big dent about 10x8" with a smaller 1"x.5"x3/8" deep dent in it..then the rock bounced and landed on that ridge that runs down the hood and dented that..then it bounced and landed in the middle and left dozens of scratches running down the hood when it slid off. This is so fucked-up because I take damn good care of my car, I mean this is my baby here. His mom and girlfriend witnessed it but are lying to protect him because he just barely got out of jail...anyway, the police are trying to prove guilt, (they actually were out the night before when he was throwing rocks, but no one had noticed the damage to my car) but if they can't I'm coughing up a $500 deductibe. Replacement/painting of the hood will be over $950 so at least I'm insured. It's probably going to jack up my premiums though.

Oh, and I know my car is filthy, that's because I drove on a dirt road and then it sprinkled for the first time in 3 months..however this established when the damage occured, because some of the scrapes clearly went through the rain spots, and the rain occured Sunday at about 9 p.m.

Pictures of damage with explanations..

Thanks to AF for providing me with a forum to vent.

1. Truck was worth $300, MAX.
2. He is an alchoholic who got out on parole earlier that day. One of the stipulations of his parole was NO DRINKING because he's a damned alchoholic and gets in hella trouble when he drinks.
3. He was drunk off his ass.
4. He is a moron from a shallow gene pool judging from his mother.

If the police can't prove him responsible and I have to pay the $500 ded. myself, I have a feeling he's getting his ass whooped.

I'd have had that little bugger between my hands by his neck if I could pin it on him... Just tell the police you're going to put matching dings and dents and scratches on his head... God knows it won't hurt anything since it sounds like it's empty.

Best of luck to you, and heck, even the Police in proving his guilt!

I think that keeping this fool in jail is wasted taxpayer money, what is the rent for a spot in the middle of the Pacific ocean???? and are there any extra charges for residents with concrete boots????

Talking Sorry, but I coudn't resist making you eat your own words with a spoon & fork!

Why didn't YOU stop to think about that BEFORE you parked near his car? YOU knowingly and intentionally broke the unwritten law. This time he got you. It's not the cops' job to make sure you avoid parking near a championship rock thrower, and it's not their job to make sure your insurance is cheap. You want to park safely, get a garage. If you are going to park dangerously out in public, you are accepting the risk of getting hit by rocks, and with that, the risk of paying many $$$ insurance. You weighed those risks and still decided to park. Now stand up and accept the consequences you have brought upon yourself.

If you don't like your neighbors, then feel free to leave.

Hope you see the humor in how you treated me VS. what happened to you. It looks like we'll both be paying our insurance co.'s more money.

I parked in my assigned parking spot in my private apartment parking. He illegally parked next to me in a vacant apartment's spot, instead of in visitor parking where he was legally required to park. I did NOT park next to his car, he parked next to mine. I was merely following the requirements of my lease, he was breaking the law. I was not parked in public, I was parked in my apartment's private parking, in the exact spot that I have parked for over a year and 3 months without incident.

The main thing I'm upset with here, is not that I'll be paying the ins. co. more money per month...it's the $500 deductible which I'll pay out of my pocket pretty much no matter what, because the rock-thrower (who was, by the way, not a champion. A champion wouldn't have missed) does not have shit for money and didn't even buy his own truck. He's 32 and still has his momma buying his vehicles and lying to the popos for him. That makes me want to puke.

Oh, by the way, my neighbors are being evicted after this incident, so I don't have to move.

You are trying to draw similarities between two completely unrelated incidents. You will be paying more insurance because you can't seem to understand the correlation between speeding and tickets. I will be paying more insurance because of circumstances beyond my control.

Nice try, though.

:eek
I was expecting more criticism!
Thanks, but in this case it's fairly cut-and-dry. He obviously did the damage but proving it is another matter because all of the evidence so far is circumstantial. In addition, even if I did prove it I'd probably never be able to get the money out of him.

Oh, did I mention that he had just gotten out of jail earlier that weekend, and one of the stipulations of his parole was 'no drinking'? He has been arrested before because of stuff he did while drunk.

What is wrong with a person who, at the ripe old age of 32, can't buy his own car, and can't keep his own ass out of jail? To me, theives are bad...but in a way, vandals are worse. I think this one is a candidate for that stuff they give you so when you taste just a sip of alchohol it makes you violently ill. If that doesn't work I recommend the death penalty.

condo parking

I have a one car garage and an assigned outside parking space. When I first bought my condo, about 12 years ago, a couple of units parked their cars in my outside spot. When I left notes most of them would stop parking there as the previous owner didn't care because she only had one car. But there was one person that kept partking in my spot. One day I left a note to please move his car. A couple of hours later I came out to check and the note was gone so I knocked on his door, and I knew he was there because I could hear noises inside his unit. Anyway, left a second note and checked later, note gone again. This time I called a tow truck. When the tow truck came he asked me if I was sure I wanted this vehicle towed and impounded, when I said yes after proving to him that I was the user of that space he hooked it up and the owner came running out and tried to confront me. The condo security was there but they were of no help (bunch of pussies). The owner said "You can't tow my car away" and I pointed out that it was already on the hook. He ranted and raved to the tow truck driver to put in down and take off the hook, to which the tow truck driver replied, "It'll be $40 to take it off the hook". He paid the $40 and parked it in somebody elses space. You know, some people are just plain stupid!
