SAS Wings in detail - How to make...
Its come up on the board a few times and i've had several PM's about them so here's a build up of a wing which should answer a few Q's and help anyone having trouble with fitment and lining up parts etc.
To begin with parts are removed easily with a good pair of wire cutters, any stubs can be filed with needle files. The fixings for the upper part of the struts require the tabs to be folded. Unfortunately coz of the design, a fold line could not be etched because of the bolt detail on this part - it was one or the other. So this makes it a little more fiddly but still not too much of a problem. If you hold the tab firmly in a pair of small nosed pliers, then press down the remaining part on a hard flat surface, you can easily bend the tab to 90 degrees as required. When it comes to glueing parts together, superglue is the best method. It helps to get a better bond if the joing surfaces are roughed up with some sandpaper. If you have took care with the bends and placement of parts so far, the struts will stand correctly if stood on end. Now's the time to fine tune the tabs if any of the bends are slightly out. Onto the wings... The wings ae best cut to length in a small mitre, this way you will get true cuts. With the trickier double wing, it makes the task alot easier if you temporarily fix the two wings in relation to each other with tape. You can adjust the smaller wing to a setting u wish to replicate Note the postion on the endplates... When marking out the position for the struts start with a line for how far you want them postioned from the leading edge. Then measure in from the ends for each strut and do so again on a line at the rear so that they can be aligned straighly. The finished wing should then look something like this...

OMG, they're metal??? Unbelievable
They look very realistic, I've never really seen teh detail on these wings until now and I'm amazed by thier realistic look. One questions though... do they work? If I were to push one of my models wearing one of those wings, would it stay on the ground? J/KOn a kinda off topic note: When I was building my Revell Toyota Atlantic car, I took the front nose piece and put it on the ground... turned on my VERY powerful compressor and blew air on it head on as if it was like air going to the front nose... THE THING WAS STICKING TO THE GROUND!!! It would come up, I tried to pull it and it wouldnt come off the ground unless I turned the compresor off.Sorry for going off topic like that, I thought it might be interesting to hear that
