What Tranny?!?!?

alright guys i have a 2000 ls with a fully built ls/vtec motor b18b block with b16 head....im running about 11.6 compression aftermarket everything all built by dave hickman.....i dont want to hear anything about the reliability of ls/vtec because ive gone through it already i just wanna know what kind of tranny to get im stuck with auto right now...i have about 240 at the wheels with bolt ons and everything....... and about 200lb torque maybe more my redline is 9000 but can push it to 9500- 9800 vtec is set at 5500....... anyways my tranny choices are stock ls, stock gsr, gsr with type r gearing, or type r.....

Just get the Type R. One question though...How is it that you ride the tach to 9800rpm with an auto tranny?

Type R all the way. It comes with a LSD and it's geared nicely.

usdm type r and pre 98 jdm r's are have the exact same gearing as a usdm si (dohc) tranny with the addition of lsd, which is weak anyways. 98+ jdm itr transmissions have the same gear ratios but use a 4.765 final drive as opposed to the previous 4.40. shorther gearing always means faster accereration, but only if you can achieve traction. i myself would opt for a gsr tranny w/ quaife lsd for a street car. quaiffe lsd's are unbreakable

i anwered your question in a respectful manner, now you can answer me.

I still have doubts of your 12.5 1/4 mile. you have posted different hp #'s that you "think" your engine is making...why dont you just dyno it and find out? you spent more than 5k on your engine, cant you spend the extra $65 to see how much power it puts down (btw 200tq sounds too high for any n/a honda). you must have the time slip of your 12 sec 1/4, if you dont have a scanner, at least post the results of every measured variable. 0-60, 660, 1000, trap speed, etc.

thats what the dynojet underground dyno (model 244) looks like, but it has sensors to measure hp, speed, etc.

the drums on emission testing machines are only used to put load on the engine. before, they only revved it in neutral. load=more emissions. if it wasnt for that new test i'm sure i'd pass even turboed...fukcers

cant you get a 5th gear from an LS and put it in a ITR tranny, heard you could once, then you arent halfway to redline cruising at 75. well IU know its not really halfway yet, but I hate it driving a car and at 80 its at like 4500. I think thats how it is in the YS1 at least.
