04 Silverado max tire size?

I have an 04 silverado 4x4 truck with the 17" wheels on it, when I buy new tires I want to get some bigger tires. Does anybody know what size will fit? By the way it is a z71. Thanks

Re: 04 Silverado max tire size?

Stock is 265/70/17. You can easily go to 285/70/17 with no problems. Go bigger and the cost gets way up there and you start scrubbing. You might want to level the front end when you do tires if you haven't already. Usually needs about 2 inches to match the back. You can try cranking the stock keys or install leveling keys. Be sure to have the front end in the air when you tighten the key bolts to prevent stripping threads. If you only raise it two inches, you might get away without a front end alignment.

you willl have to trim a bit of your wheel well liner up front but it will fit nicely only rubbing a tad on tight turns

Re: 04 Silverado max tire size?

I ran a 305/50-20 on a 8.5 inch wide wheel before my lift... Tire size will be solely based on wheel choice, the more backspacing the bigger tire you can stuff in there. As stated with a crank or leveling kit you can easily fit a 33"
