Question How much is the new R35 selling for?

Hey guys, I'm new to this board. I'm 14 years old and I'm getting a car soon...well not really soon, in 2 years....I was just wondering if the R35 is coming to the US (lets all cross our fingers!) how much do you guys think or know it will be selling for. I was just wondering if the car could be in my price range. And if you guys don't know, give me a reasoanable guess. THe R35 is just a beauty.

I wouldn't expect to see it for under $65K US. It's supposed to be a real sports car, maybe even a supercar.

Well, at this point, there's no telling how much the GT-R will be. We'll probably hear a lot more about it soon though. Seems like US$65,000 might be on the money considering it's gonna be the Nissan flagship car.

Even if you could afford the car, only being 16 with that kind of an automobile, I could almost guarantee your monthly insurance would be as much as your car payment! When I turned 16, I could've got an M3 for really cheap, but my insurance payment would have been more than my car note! Just something else to think about when picking a car.

Yup insurance is a HUGE consideration when buying a new car. With all the resonably priced 300ZX TT out there I could have gotten a nice used one. However the price difference between the 300XZ and the G20's insurance is really quite silly.

Yeah you guys are right, Insurance is a BIG factor when buying a car. Teens like me and driving....well thats not a good idea. It's gonna be our first time and we are all excited and stuff. I probably will try to be as careful and aware as possible. I probably wont be able to put mods on the car im getting, i would if i could....but oh well, maybe when im a rich doctor and im 40 or 50, i could get a skyline, with all the mods i want.....ahh, thats quite a while to wait.....

Wow. I wish I could have considered a $65000 car when I was only 14. My parents bought me kinda crappy cars to take care of and fix up so I would learn to appreciate what I had and take better care of it. Almost everybody I know that got new cars when they got their license wrecked their nice cars because they were never taught how to appreciate what they had because they knew that mommy and daddy would bail them out. I hope you're not the same way.

First off the original question was "How much is the new R35 selling for?". I think we need to clarify this a bit. The Nissan Skyline that will be coming to the states will be sold at Infiniti as the G35 prices expected to be at the $30K mark.

Now the car everyone is thinking of here is the GT-R. If we take the current Yen to US$ exchange rate then you are looking at $50K starting. The new version of the GT-R will more than likely be a bit more than that, but don't expect it to be that much more. Of course expect dealers to mark them up by quite a bit.

SkylinR35GTRx, welcome to AF. Rule of thumb when looking at your first car. Buying something used that "needs" working on. Nothing better than to get your hands dirty fixing your "own" car. When you are old enough to afford your own "new" car. You would have learned so much that you will find it hard to let go of your first "true love".

Also if you happen to trash the car while learning to drive, it won't be so bad. Just always remember to drive safe and keep the racing where it belongs, on the tracks

haven't you guys heard that the GT-R is expected to be around £100,000 ?

Quote:
Nissan has plans to turn the sports car order upside down with a completely new GT-R. Also due to hit the road in 2004 and guaranteeing an output of at least 350bhp, the next generation GT-R will pack a 3.5-litre V6 engine with twin-turbos as well as revolutionary wheel-mounted electric motors.

The engine will be at the front and will drive the rear wheels, while the electric motors power the fronts, each working independently of the other. By using a hybrid unit in addition to the twin-turbo V6, regenerative energy is produced from the rear wheels while power is fed to the front tyres as required through the lightweight in-wheel motors.

Not only does this add to the car's performance, the system will also offer impressive stability control. In contrast to the mechanical Attessa E-TS 4WD system, there is no time-lag inherent in the new front-wheel-drive concept and it is capable of channelling torque instantly. However, the technology employed in the new machine will not come cheap. Nissan insiders are suggesting that by the time the car reaches the market, it will cost nearly £100,000.
