All I know is that 6gs is way too much for complete paint job. What exactly is involve on this paint job that it cost so much? If your car involves major rust or dent repair then the price is justified, I guess, but still questionable. Now a days, bodyshops prefer to replace panels with new ones than deal with patching rusted areas, for faster turn around. Cost more but will definitely last longer than even a good patch job. In similar case like this, in my opinion, I would invest my well-earned greens on another vehicle. A real good bodyshop, relying on professional judgment, will turn you down up front if they feel the value of repair and paint job will cost more than the car itself.
Otherwise, a clean car (or w/very minor repair) getting a decent exterior paint job, including door jams and trunk area with clearcoat will cost around 2gs, a little less or more here in NYC. Some bodyshop will even include the engine bay area or oven baked (drying process) finished for the same price.
Never settle for Maaco with their "ambassador paint job" offer or Earl Schieb (same B*%# S%*#!). You know what quality paint job they'll provide. You might as well do it yourself with store bought can paint spray and you'll get the same exact result, with overspray included.
Keep shopping around for a better price and don’t forget to check the finished paint job on another vehicle before you commit.:sun:
