I'd go with the WRX myself. Actually, an STi. You've got an Evo 8 killer stock, and with a few mods could completely annihilate that 3000 GT. those things are great off the line and top end, but handly like ass, since they weigh nearly 2 tons. The Talon/Eclipse, nice choice, but you'd have to drop some serious coin down to rival the performance of the STi, and you'd end up spending more than the Subie would run. And the Honda...ugly, not nearly as good handling, ugly, slower, ugly...you get the idea. Go for an STi.

why I went with the Impreza

After much research, I ended up with my 99 Impreza 2.5 RS because it was the best handling daily driver in a variety of road conditions. On the track, it doesn't handle as well as my Miata (I ran the Subi at one Driver's Ed last year), but it's a lot more comfortable with all season radials than my previous daily driver (1987 Porsche 944) was with Michelim Pilot Arctic Alpin's in the snow, and living in New England, that's a major consideration. After having studied how the various AWD systems work, at the time I bought it, it was the most efficient system on the market, and the only ones that have come out since then that are better are in the WRX (refinement of what I've got), Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII (like the WRX, same basic theory but more refined), and the STi (another large leap, the Driver Controlled Center Differential looks very promising as a huge step forwards). My RS is down on power, but for a daily driver, it's not a big deal, as I've got my race car to excercise my right foot (though it's down on power on the Subaru, I use more of the power available in the Miata than in the Subi.) I am now trying to figure out whether or not I can afford an STi, but if not I'll probably end up getting an '04 WRX, as the milage on my RS is getting kinda high.
