I have a 97 gt and I want to drop a gtp motor in it...will I have 2 make any other modifications if I'm just swapping motors....????
Also can i put any supercharged 3800 in my 97 gt or does it have 2 b from a grand prix...? Last edited by Gt2GtP; 03-25-2010 at 12:02 PM. |

Re: Gtp swap
Welcome to AF!!
This question keeps recurring on the forum. Putting a supercharged engine in the GT can be done if you have plenty of money and time and patience. Replacing 3800 NA with the Supercharged engine requires an engine, transmission, axle shafts, PCM, wiring harness, fuel pump and a host of other parts. It would be much easier and cheaper to find a used GTP and purchase it rather than try the swap. If you decide to do this the 97 was a unique year as it was a transition year between models and you should stick with a 97 PCM. The engine year shouldn't matter but you may need to change some sensors. |
