GT stang kill

I've had several of these but none have been interesting enough to post.

I caught the red headed South on Arroyo Pkwy in Pasadena just before it turns into the 110 S. I normally go 3/4 throttle on this light just for shits (good place to get a 0-60 if you know what I mean ). Anyhow I did my peppy take off with no wheel-spin and to my surprise I hear tires squeeling from beside me (two lanes over). Instinctively I mash on the accelerator and spin thru most of what was left of 1st. I hit second and grab. I look over to see the front end of a Silver Mustang. I had maybe a foot and a half on him. I stayed on it and he stayed even thru second, < I thought to myself, DAMN!! shouldn't you be slipping by now? >. I hit third and slowly started inching him, his windshield was at my pillar halfway thru third (~95mph). We were rapidly approaching the freeway's bend so I decided to try him on suspension. I eased of the gas and took the bend at 85 (5mph over my previous best, go Bilstein!!! ) He must of dropped to 75 or 80 cause I just ran away.

I get out of the bend and floor it , passing up a black CLK430 on the way. He thought it was about him so he also gets on it (Yes, the world revolves around MB not directed at you self). I look in the rearview and see that the Mustang backed off so I lay off. The CLK shadows me for a while and eventually gets bored as I pay him no attention. I wait for the Mustang to pass me up. He comes by and I notice that it's 1. an older SN GT (script GT lettering not the new block GT logo). 2. It was a convertable 3. it was a vert with a rollbars . He passed me up and in my shock and disbelief I forgot to give him the thumbs up. That was a very impressive vert. I had a new GT convertable about a week ago and put about 6 cars on him to 110. Anyhow that run made my Easter.

Nice run Danno!

Soon... Soon we shall meet... and see which Bowtie is faster... Just dont try any of that "HA i'll take him in the corners!" Business. I'll admit it right here I will lose so fast I might as well just put it into park, get out and throw wrenches in your direction.

Nice run - that GT must have some extra under the hood to do so well against your car. You should have smacked down the benz just because it was a gimme

Sounds like a fun kill, what does your Camaro run in the 1/4 and 0-60?

Nice kill...And no offense taken Even though the world DOOOEESSS revolve around Mercedes Benz!!

Thanks all, I have to admit that run came real close to being a "beaten by a sleeper" post. It was the closest run I've had so far. It was right up there with the E55 loss. I'm sure the GT vert is somewhere in the 13s because NHRA rules require rollbars on verts doing 13.99 and better.

It would've been fun but by the time he caught up to me there was too much traffic.

No clue, mid to low 13s in the quarter I guess (It's completely stock down to the OEM paper filter). I'm getting my baseline dyno later this week and plan to take her to the track (Carlsbad < sea level>) in two weeks.

You're welcome on down here my friend... If you can deal with the whole CA emissions Nazi's.

Its a double edged sword really, cause if you think of it as a challenge to try to squeeze the hp out and still pass the stupid emissions then you're probably a real enthusiast and know what you're doing... or you payed somebody who knows what they're doing. I mean getting a emissions friendly car into the 11's takes some planning. Unlike some states where they dont care. I'll give more respect to the CA car doing 11s than i would the AZ car running the same.

Or, you just plain hate the fact that places like Huston and Denver are smoggier than Los Angeles and yet they still dont have as stringent rules as we do... and they get to have all the fun.
