Stradale Stratos Process (Many Piccies)

Hi I based my little and easy conversion on this model here ; the 1977 lancia Stratos . My kit was reboxed by Revell AG, but it remains all the same.


The final result is to obtain something like this ; The 1977 Lancia Stratos Stradale, the road variant of the same kit .



So I did a bit of research, and realised a bit had to be changed, as for example the dashboard, that is completely different, here 's my try (first time Scratch building here ;







The interior was also a bit different,there was some foot panels and there were no holes in the central tunnel .
as you can see here

And the street Stratos had a little hook between the seats.


And for the rest I m building it pretty much OOB, because the Stradale version was more or less the same then the Rallye one .

The coulour in the pics is a bit light , but it should match the pic (the real one's coulour) perfectly.



Some minor exterior mods were also done, to make the car the stradale version.


And as you might see, I got a bit silly and seeing this zebra in the toyu shop I decided to buy it and add some detail (eyes and stripes and the feet) and weather it a bit, like an urban zebra would be

That's a great attempt at scratchbuilding for your first time, all those curves must not have been easy. Keep us updated!

It's the light green spraycan from Tamiya .
Oh, and forgot to mention, originally a Hasegawa kit, pretty much curbside, and I m loving it !

Daggerlee, I sure wil keep you updated ! And don't think this is the final form of the dashboard, I have added putty and corrected the lines, so I am satisfied with the final result.

The plan is to includ some seatbelts, reduce the width of the tyres and make it a stratos I could be proud of !

Her's a little update...
The dashboard has been made to meet the stradale's specs.
I m very happy, it's my first scrachbuilding "project" and looks the way I wanted it to be.






This little project if mine should be done within two weeks.(i Hope )

Thanks to RallyRaider, who helped me and send me some rims and the right dashboard for the stratos stradale, made by fujimi, I can finally spend some time detailing the suspentions. This is really a very nice gesture and I appreciate it very much !

Anyway, here's the update ;


Above you see teh hasegawa modified dashboard and rims and tyres, compared to the fujimi's from the stradale kit.
The hasegawa's are male rims, while the fuji's are female. The dash from the fujimi is also an accurate representation from the real stradale, something I could never have dreamt to build , so thanks again phil !

As for teh qualities of the plastics, I must say they are each extremely well, and there's no difference between them in terms of quality.

And here is a little pic of the body of the Stratos, which I heve primered, painted, compounded, painted (because I had to take out some paint out of the holes in the hood and took some paint away ) and re-compounded.

I am quite satisfied. The only thing which is a bit .... je ne sais quoi... is the panel lines, They are not deep enough for a fine tip marker, so I might leave it this way or try the capillar method , as recommended by Tamiya.
