Exclamation Cheap and fun mods!

Ok, my dad lent me his commuter car, the 91 convertible blah blah. Anyway! Being the teen I am, I decided to have some fun with it. After the 1600watt system off ebay for 40 bux, I got some cheap rims, custom made my own taillights from the old housings without the lense "only because one of the lights was missing half of the lens and i thought i would get pulled over" and my favorite mod of all, the custom exhaust.

Tools needed...
1 hacksaw

Ok.. so here's what we do.
1 Take the hacksaw
2 Place it about 2 inches before the muffler
3 start sawing

*30mins later*

4 start the car and listen to her purr
*OPTIONAL*
5 The flexpipe from kragen fits nicely onto the end and you can put a cheap exhaust tip on there. Makes her look nice. I'll post pictures on www.cardomain.com/id/Chaser756/
Pics will work monday night, 4-21-03

The geo makes that nice sound you expect to come from TurboII's on a honda, with absolutely NO EXTRA PARTS! Simple mod, join the fun. Not only get good gas mileage, but turn heads and make ppl laugh. If you're worried about getting pulled over... HA, like a cop is going to pull over a geo. Take this for example.

Geo: VROOOOM
Honda: putt putt
Cop: "wtf was that noise??.... HONDA!! GET EM!"
Geo: "ha"

then pull safely into your driveway. He'll never know!

Without a muffler my 360 sounds like an ultralight airplane, and at idle it blows out perfect rings of smoke.

Re: Cheap and fun mods!

Hey when you chop off your muffler is it better to run a straight pipe out the back to get the fumes out of the bottom of your car? Would the exhaust fumes wreck your suspension and tires and all that?

Re: Cheap and fun mods!

it shoots straight into my bumper, i dunno about deteriorating all the suspension and tire components, it just gives the car a DEEP sound, and turns heads.

Sounds cool I'd love to do that... but with emissions testing do you have to have a muffler or just a catalytic convertor? I did mine yesterday and the guy stuck a mirror under for a second but just where the catalytic convertor was... I wonder if it's legal with just a catalytic convertor but no muffler.

Re: Cheap and fun mods!

i dunno, we dont have emissions testing here, and it might be my Cat. but it looks like there is a glasspack just behind the front seat area of the exhaust, its red and looks just like one, but im not sure.

Re: Cheap and fun mods!

Well if it's a cheap and fun mod chances are it's illegal to not have a muffler... most fun things are illegal for cars!

Yeah okay maybe not from cops but as far as emissions testing I'm sure it's illegal. Does it sound good quality?

Re: Cheap and fun mods!

its pretty decent, not the best....not as good as doing an actual exhaust upgrade. but its loud, and will turn some heads. but ive heard some hondas with those "fart"cans that are louder, so im not too worried. emissions wise, your right probably wont pass, but like i said, we dont have emissions testing here, so it doesnt matter.

I've got a 2 1/4" exhaust coming off of my Calmni headers, no cat, w/Dynomax muffler. It purrs quietly below 3000rpm, and roars from 5-9000rpm's

Re: Cheap and fun mods!

Sounds like it would be pretty loud when you're revving it that's cool. I've got to start WD40-ing my exhaust screws and stuff if I want to get the catalytic converter off
