Instrument panel
hey guys
how does the instrument panel come out on a 90 civic DX? It looks like there's a burnt light bulb behind it and I would like to change it. Maybe if i take off the air vent above it I can reach down..? Thanks Joey |

Are you talking about the guage cluster or the heater/AC controls?
If you're talking about the guage cluster, there should be 4 phillips screws holding the cover on, 2 on the bottom of the front, and two by the wind-shield under some beauty caps that you pop up with a flathead screw-driver. Once the cover is off, you can remove the guage cluster itself, I think it's another 4 screws in plain sight. Once the guage cluster is out (don't need to disconnect the wiring), you can see the light-bulb locations. You just have to twist the knobs to get the bulbs out, and then you can see how to replace them. If you are talking about the heater/AC controls, I'm not really sure, I've heard that replacing the bulbs in there is a pain in the ass. But you remove the console bezel that goes around the heater controls and stereo. There should be 4 screws holding it in. Two at the top on either side (you'll have to open your glove box to see the one on the passenger side), and one on either side that are in plain sight. Once you remove that, you can see how to take off the heater/AC control panel, 2 screws in the front hold it on... beyond that I don't know, but you can probably figure it out.

Oh, and if you ARE talking about the heater/AC controls, removing the vent above it will not get you anywhere.

yeh the heater controls are not that hard i did it in 15-20 minutes i think. u sjust take the console out and there are two phillips screws holdong the control panel on, when u take those two screws out the heater should move, then u take ur knobs off and it should slide off. BTW if u rip all the blue crap on the bulbs it makes it ALOT brighter.
