New guy can't get a race!

Whassup guys, new to the board here. I recently got my 98 Grand Prix GTP, still bone stock w/ around 240 hp. I was really excited when I got my car, but I can't get a race!!! I drive around, tons of ricers and genuine racers, but if I HAPPEN to get lucky enough to line up next to one at a light, no one will go! Do they think I'm joking? Am i just that intimidating? What the hell??

I had this problem once but once in a while you just come across someone who's up for it.

Most will just pansy because they don't want to get caught by the cops which i think is probably best.

Try going to your local drag strip and race there at least it'll be legal:o

GTP's, I love them cars! I wouldn't mind a 2 door version, too bad they only come in 4-doors now. OH and nice quote. LOL

Your day will come my son! Just be patient! Most are like the mouse small and afraid of your eminse power. One day you will cross the tiger and a great battle will ensue.

It could be most people value their license more then being able to say they beat a pontiac.

fly past people and then just look at them as you pass them it just seems to get them going and they seem to want to race then rev at them at the next stop light

whats better is when you beat them. :o

I hope you're not saying that this is no feat... there are quite a few stock Pontiacs out on the road that would SMOKE a 94 Cobra. No disrespect intended, I personally love Cobras, just sayin...

Pontiac has always been known for power and style, and, sometimes, mullets (no I don't have one).

.

Like what? Firebirds, and thats about it. Bonneville SSEI is powerful but thats too heavy, your grand prix even supercharged is probably real heavy and fwd. The other cars, Grand Am, Vibe, Aztek, Sunfire, are just too weak to take on a Cobra, 94 or not it still pretty quick.

I guess you can read whatever you want into my statement. But, regardless of the car its really not a smart move to risk life and license for the sake of bragging rights.

Are you just sitting at the light waiting for them to initiate a race, or do you look at them and rev your engine?

Yes, you are right. But it's still fun

Both, depending on the situation

My Grand Prix is a little heavy (almost 3200 lbs), but I also have 240 horsepower and 280 ft-lbs of torque, and according to edmunds and personal experience, it'll run a mid-14 1/4 stock. And more boost is just a $65 pulley away. Not saying I'll take a Cobra, but just that one shouldn't underestimate Pontiac. And for the record, I'd love to take one on for shits and giggles, just to see what'd happen.
