1978 Marquis

I have the opportunity to purchase a 78 Marquis with 33k mile. The car is mint. It is a two door with a 400ci engine. I know the current owner and know when he bought it all it needed was new hoses, tires, etc. He is liquidating his toys, going to smaller living quarters. No storage. Any idea as to a fair price, is this a collectable car, good investment and so forth. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That was a sweet car in its day! It's an antique, it's gotta be worth something. Must be some old Ford sites where you could get an idea, try google or ebay. At 33 years old, unless she's been up on blocks, all 4 springs will need replacement and she should ride like new again.

Thanks for the response. The car comes out a few times each summer for a few shows. He starts it a couple time a month thru-out the winter months.

Re: 1978 Marquis

A car like this would have only a small amount of collector interest because it is a 2-door version of the last of the full-size cars. But, collectors find the Lincolns of the day to be more desirable.

It would hold more interest because of its low mileage and exceptional original condition, which is very rare.

If you like the big cars, this one is well worth picking up. I think $5000 would be a reasonable price, but try for a bit less.
