99 Accord shuts off while driving...
I drive a 99 Honda Accord and at one point while I was at a stop sign, with my foot on the brake I noticed the Maintenance Required light comes on and I hear a beeping noise. Then I hit the gas to go and the car bucks/stutters. Then as I turn the car shuts off on me...pretty scary and pretty confusing. Any suggestions, ideas
Oh yeah, its a 4 DR 99 Honda Accord LX, 4 cylinder. |

Re: 99 Accord shuts off while driving...
go to a honda dealer, there is a recall on the ignition switch for your car. Not all cars in your year are elidgible, but its worth a shot to go and see if your car can have the recall done.
It deals with ignition switches that fail prematurely. its a safety recall so it should be no expense to you, we do them everyday at the dealership i work at.

Re: 99 Accord shuts off while driving...
^^ Thanks for that info, but unfortunately I already called Honda Corp. gave them my VIN number and they had told me that my car was already serviced for the recall ignition switch...

...has nothing to do with that problem. It sounds like you have a charging system problem. When you give more gas the alternator produces more energy. Go to Autozone, Kragen, etc. and check your alternator and battery. Good luck, Sam
