1/24 driver figures - avaliability?
My first post here, and just a quick query.
I am currently working on 1/24 Porsche 962C and Porsche 917K, and I would like to have drivers in the cockpits. What options are there to have Derek Bell and Richard Attwood piloting my models. Because the cockpits will be closed I am not too bothered with exact detail. If there are no motorsport drivers available can anyone think of an alternative (30 years ago I cut up a paratrooper to fit in a Ferrari F1 car!) Cheers in advance  |

The best would probably be the old Hasegawa driver figures made for their Group C kits. They had both standing and seated positions. Out of production now but they still pop up on Ebay periodically.

Fujimi (and Tamiya IIRC) make Rally and F1 driver figures.
I am pretty sure that I have seen some form other makers also. Try checking out HLJ.COM and Media Mix Hobby - you may find something there If you get very desperate, I think I have a spare Rally driver set I could part with. You can PM me if you need them.

The Tamiya driver figures in the older sports car kits will fit the 956 better than the Hasegawa driver. The driver in the Revell Reynard is also very good. Just a bit shorter in 1/24 since his original scale is supposed to 1/25. But then he must have been a tall 1/25th as he looks quite acceptable for 1/24.
One thing that is important can be how the driver legs fit the seat and reach the pedals, as well as arm length for proper placement of the hands on the steering wheel. Long legged drivers with short arms are sometimes required. |
