Windstar Trans problems

Does anybody know when Ford fixed the Windstar Transmission problems? Were they still having problems after 2001? Thanks, Roy

Re: Windstar Trans problems

I don't know about after 2001, but my 2000 has it's third trans in it and I just turned 100K miles.

Re: Windstar Trans problems

the 2001 should be better than the earlier years.
1995 was the worst year.....gradually improving over the years.
CRITICAL to change the transmission fluid AT LEAST every 30K miles.
A common problem is the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS), also called Neutral Safety switch.
