Taurus Rear Suspension Problem

My son's 95 Taurus' right rear tire moves front to back. I'm thinking it must have broken some sort of "tracking bar", but I am unable to find a parts listing for one.

Am I on the right track or is there something I'm missing?

EDIT: Well, I tore into it and apparently the bar is called a "strut bar." The bushing where it meets the frame tore and rusted out allowing the bar to move forward. I've been unable to find a new strut bar but was able to find the bushings at Napa.

My problem now is getting it put back together. I have the hub lowered as far as it will go and I still need a couple inches to get the bar to go into the mount under the strut.

How do I get the additional clearance? Am I going to have to remove the strut?

Re: Taurus Rear Suspension Problem

I haven't replaced these bushings but would imagine you could loosen the rear strut from the upper mount (through the trunk and maybe the package tray) to lower the rear enough. I would go from the top since then you won't be likely to effect the alignment and salt and moisture should not have started to corrode those fasteners making it easier to remove them.
