Hand-drawn Mustang

Thanks jay. I drew this a couple months ago. I had step-by-step instructions. I can't draw rims really well. What kind of rims should I put on this. I also think the rear wheel should be moved up a bit.

Very nice. I hate drawing rims too. If I have to I try to make sure they're at an easy to dray angle, or I try to find reference photos at the same angle. I'm not into domestics so I can't really help you much with rim selection, but I'd go buy a car magazine and flip through it. Look for rim ads. Aftermarket tuning magazines (Super Street, Sport Compact Car) are good for this. (I know those are Japanese import magazines, but that's all I know!) :silly2: Road and Track has some ads, too. That and of course you could always search the internet. Try www.tirerack.com . They have lots of rims and tires and such. Hope that helps. Keep up the good work!

Few constructive suggestions on drawing:
I don't know how serious you are about drawing cars or anything, but here are some tips that really helped me become better (not that I'm all that great now). Enjoy, and know that I already think the drawing's great.

It looks like you drew with a regular wood pencil. For the best results, do what I do. Use a mechanical pencil. You get much better lines. Also, if you're considering doing more, buy different hardness levels of lead. For the light original sketches I use very hard lead that doesn't leave dark lines (HB or higher like F). For final darker lines I use a softer lead (2B). That will help make your drawing look cleaner.

Also, it's important to realize that wheels change shape with perspective too. They aren't always perfect circles.

Those two things said, the drawing looks magnifice! The more you draw the better it will become. Something I did when I first started drawing cars (and Jay can testify) is that I drew the same thing over and over again. I think I drew 8 versions of the NSX/S2000 combo I did for Jay. The more you draw even the same thing, the more you see how to manipulate the car and the lines.
