I have a 95 integra Ls and I'm trying to put some money together for a swap. my choices are either an H22 or a GSR. I know the GSR will bolt up much easier, but I'm trying to get a break down of cost , compatibilty, and level of difficulty for each swaps. Any information that you guys might have to give me or any sites i can visit will be really helpful.

jus drop a b16 head on there...an u'll be faster then both of those motors. much cheaper too.

I wanted to do a complete swap, because the ls engine has about 80,000+ miles and swapping just the head makes me concerned about the rest of the engine. How much horsepower does a b16 come with anyways.

b16a1/4 (b16a1 only says b16a on the block) are both rated at 170/112. compared to b16a2/3 which both came with 160/110. (hp/torque)

i dont remember where i heard this but the way an h22 moves when its being revved its the opposite to that of b18s and the only car engineered to handle the different shift pattern is the prelude... h22s generally cost more than b18s so i'd do the b18 swap

my bud had a 94 teg and now has a 97 prelude. he HATES the gas mileage. Keep that in mind....h22 gets 25 mps verus what ever the b16 is.

If the car has high miles dont just ditch it. Rebuild it. If you're workin on a budget just get all the gaskets replaced and if you have to some cash rods and pistons. Then get the B16 head and you'll be set. Cheaper than a swap and it has 0 miles. Take it from someone that just bought a JDM B20b they don't show up at your house in great condition. Rusted drive plate, busted PS pump and a damn lotta oil in the intake manifold. Without a rebuild this "30,000 mile engine" (yea right) would have ran like crap.

I read that the thinner flanges on a h22 won't allow as much hp as a b series engine. It also said that h22's can get up and near 700 hp (I'm guessing this was a pure racing article) and the b series engines can come closer to 1,000.

All you got to do is rebuild the engine, you can gain massive power, cheaper cash used form buying a new engine, and u dont gotta buy new axles or etc for the h22a swap....ex. you have a ls, get the type r head(or any vtec b series head) and u will be puttin out around 200+easy. Then rebuild every part of your engine for your teg. Just that will help you out with your checkbook, and you will be outperforming all the others making those ridiculous complete swaps for 5+grand. Honda engines can last forever if you treat them right.

re:cheap cash...
stupid mistake, my bad....cheap cash used on rebuildin parts on ur engine...too much cash spent on "new" engines(jdm) which all avg around 50thousand miles to begin with...

GSR swap would be much easier, the H22a is about 1k cheaper, but you need to spend that, and maybe more on all the crap you have to do to make it fit.
but just get- new rods/pistons/bearings/VTEC head, oil lines for head, VTEC ECU, and then you have only spent about half the price of the GSR swap, you got moe power as well. the rest can be spent on cams or I/H/E, whatever. unless you want to have the GSr gearing too. but even afetr gettig the GSR tranny, stilll much cheaper, and better. LSVTEC!
