Hmm.. 5k huh? I'd turn the vr4 into a beast with that type of cash...

Well before doing any mods, make sure your car maintenence is up to date and that you have a healthy motor/turbos/drivetrain/cooling system/fuel system/brakes/suspension/etc. Just make sure your car is in tip top shape before you start getting ready to abuse it.. If something is messed up, you can always upgrade it but becareful getting too ahead of yourself. Also are you gonna be doing your own work or paying someone..?
Buy a datalogger and make/purchase a boost leak tester.. Learn how to read the logs and what to make of them.. There are billions of threads on the internet on how to do this. Boost leak test and make sure that you have no leaks.. Also gap your plugs down to 32-34..
Then buy intake/boost controller/dp/exhaust/upgraded fp and hotwire kit and slowly turn up the boost as you monitor through your datalogger. Also you can gut your stock precats to provide more flow without spending a dime. Now depending on how well the car was taken care of.. Either you are already broke or spent less than $1500 of your 5k limit.
Do that first and lets just see where you stand financially.. how happy you are with the new performance of the car(stock to bpu makes a huge difference imo..).. etc.
Congrats on the purchase of the car and hopefully you guys treat each other right..

Re: 94 VR4 What mods should i add?????

There are limitless possibilities. General consenes is to start with intake, boost contoller, aftermarket boost gauge, and downpipe. Best bang for buck mods to start with. Datalogging is fantastic for tuning, i've been out of hte loop for quite awhile, but if memory serves me correct you can get a hybrid datalogger for 94/95 models.

After those basic bolt-ons, you can look a numerous combinations of turbos/fuel pump, fuel injectors, air-fuel controller, and intercooler(s). With only 5k, you would probably need to stick with bolt-on TD-04 turbos. All that said and done, if you shop prudently you can probably get it all for around 5k and have quite a fast street car. As said above, make sure your maintaince is up to date, timing belt, waterpump, etc.

-15Gs, 3sx aluminum pulley, FMIC, SAFC, walboro pump, EVO 560ccs, and Meth Injection Kit all waiting to go in shortly.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: 94 VR4 What mods should i add?????

ok forgot to add. took it to Mitsubishi motors and had the timing belt etc change also had a problem with the crank shaft position sensor (replaced). mad a EOR value if i am even saying that right. so all to together i spent 2150.99 for all of these.... this was before i had the 5 grand so my budget is still intact... the 2 and 3 gear where re-synchronized 2 years ago according to the paper work by previous owner. other then that the car is great shape
