H22A ECU/Wiring haress question..

Hey,

If i put a JDM H22A into my 1992 Prelude, I know ill need a different ECU and Harness...but I can keep the same transmission right?

Also, When i change the ECU...should I use the JDM ECU and buy some sort of aftermarket harness? Or do I buy an ECU and harness from a prelude VTEC here in the states to use on that engine?

Thank you,
-Chris

depends on what kind of transmission you have.

Some Answers

Hey dude,

You need a new ECU, so you can hit VTec. You can use the same transmission as long as you have H23/F23/F22/H22. You don't need a new harness. You have to run like, 2 or 3 wires. All you need is some Honda plugs from a junkyard or a mechanic, so that you can plug the wires into your ECU. As for the ECU, I would buy a JDM ECU for a H22. And buy an aftermarket chip off of e-bay. So if you get a good Mugen chip, or a Spoon chip, you should get about 10-20 Horsepower. The wires you have to run are for the Vtec Cylanoid and for the Vtec Sensor. I had to run a Spark Knock sensor wire to my ECU just because I have an Accord with an H22, but I think you'll be alright with that one because you have a Prelude and I think it already has a Spark Knock sensor wire running to the ECU.

-Enjoy

Re: H22A ECU/Wiring haress question..

I had mine done with into a 92 Lude w/ an H22. I had manual transmission and everything bolts up.. Get a P13 ECU for an H22a.
