choosing engine...

Alright heres my situation... I have a 99' HX coupe. Its lowered and I have full-catback exhaust on it. Unfortuantly i have an HX so i want to do an engine swap in the future. The problem is I need to figure out what I want to swap in my car. So many ideas have come into my head about different possibilities. So I am asking you... if you were me what would you decide to swap in? An H22A? GSR? JDM SiRII? At first I wanted GSR. Then i realized its alot of money compared to the JDM SiRII that has the same HP but less torque. Then the idea of an H22A popped into my head. cheapest and the fastest! However its wicked heavy and is it safe to get that for and everyday driven car? PLEASE HELP! thanks...

Matt

You might have to beef up your suspension a bit.. if you don't plan of doing a lot of fast cornering you should be okay... but then again if it's just everyday driving why would you want to go that fast anyhow?

You mentioned the H22 is the cheapest. Its actually not. Let me rephrase, the ENGINE is cheaper, but the INSTALL is more. You have to get custom motor mounts from a place like HASport. That runs around $300. Plus you have to get halfshafts and axles and other small stuff. Next comes beefed up suspension and brakes to overcome the added weight.

If you have the extra cash, the H22 is IMO the best you can put in. Its got an assload of torque which is more usable in day-to-day driving. It'd be nice to step on the gas in 5th gear and have enough power to overtake a car on the highway.

Another idea is the Integra LS b18b engine. Take that and add a turbo and you've got one awesome combo. Only minus is VTEC, but that can be added

yeah thats what I thought about installing the H22A, I guess my choices are down to GSR or JDM SiRII. I dont think I'll do the B18b swap because I dotn have the money for a turbo right now. Its something Ill add in the future. plus my friend has a 94' integra LS and hes doing a headswap on it then later on getting a turbo or supercharger. I sort of want to have something different then him.

H23A VTEC

You could throw a H23A VTEC with 220 horsepower under the hood for some extra horse, but you do need some modifications.

what H23A can you get besides one from a JDM Accord Wagon SIR??? that one only has 200 hp. the 92-96 prelude si/se has an h23a but only has 160 hp with 156lb-ft of torque.

i'd say you drop a deuce deuce under the hood..the swap will run you close to 6k give or take. that's more than a c5 swap.

if you want something easy stick with a b-series. if you want a little more challange and can get by the axle and shifter issues than go h-series.

being in NH you could goto the drop shop and they will do the swap for you
