Question 2000 cavvy - engine 'whine'

hello! since my recent scuffle with jiffy fail lube, i have since bought a new-er cavalier. it is a 2000, same as my 1998, but a little newer and everything inside works!

the only thing i notice is the engine seems to make a high pitched 'whine' noise, which i can hear all the time, unless the car is in neutral, or when it is stopped. (it only makes the noise when i am accelerating!)

if you have any ideas on what it may be, please let me know!

it is the 4 cyl, 2.2 sfl, 3 speed transmission base model cavalier, auto trans!

thanks for any input!

Re: 2000 cavvy - engine 'whine'

What happened at jiffy? Ez loser blew my engine over the summer messing with my computer. Of course, can't prove it.
As far as a whining noise? Can you tell the area its coming from? May help those knowledgeable guys here to find it? From the belt area passenger side? The tensioner for the belt?
