gas smell
we have a 96 chevy beretta and we are getting a bad gas smell in car and the less gas in the tank the worst the smell.

it has to be in tank or gas line running from the pump that's in your tank. check also around your fuel filter. if it's that bad it should have a good spot of gas when you start it up on the ground or pavement.

The filter is dry and i dont see any wet spots around the tank.

have you figured the gas smelling problem yet? if not it could be at the neck of gas tank? and one more thing have you gotten under car and traced the gas line from moter all the way to tank?
