Power window conversion

I have a 2000 Venture with manual windows. It started to develop "crooked window syndrome" in both doors & I struggled with it for quite some time. I finally sprayed the felts with silicone (after reading about it in this forum) & was able to save the passenger side, but it was too late for the driver's side. Several of the teeth have become so worn that the handle just spins when the window is in the full 'up' position. I can yank it a bit to get the teeth to mesh, but I know I don't have much time left. I've been unable to find a manual regulator at any of the local dealers, junkyards, eBay, etc.

How difficult would it be to convert to power? I know I would need the regulator, motor & switch, possibly a different inner door panel. But would the wiring harness have to be changed or modified, or are the wires in place, just waiting to be used? Or does anyone knows where I can find a manual regulator?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Have you checked with Rockauto.com?

I didn't think I would have to spell out every site I tried, but YES, I tried Rockauto. Manual windows are a bit of a rarity & as I've found out, the parts are almost impossible to find. That's why I'm considering converting over to power windows.

Re: Power window conversion

Did you call the local used part suppliers I told you about? I think you will need to buy the complete door to get what you want and even then you will need to wire it. I don't believe the wires are there just waiting to be hooked up, but you can tell that by looking in the door and see if the wires are there and testing them for power. Then, of course, you will need a new door panel with the switches in it. Again, the best bet is to find a complete used door and pull the power window stuff from it.
