2002 VW beetle brake light replacement

How do you replace the brake lights on a 2002 Volkswagon beetle? They don't make it easy.

Remove the inside cover and reach inside to remove the black nut. Then push outward.
If needed used a wide blade flat screw driver for creating a opening outside at the light. You need to pry in between the rubber seal and the plastic fender. It is "snapped" in. Work your way around prying up little by little until the whole assy pops out. Be careful not to scratch your paint. Change the bulb and replace. When reinstalling, be sure the spring thingy with the threads on it goes back into the hole for the plastic nut again.

Test is before you reinstall - just in case.

Good luck! Franco
