Disfunctional control buttons on the instrument panel

1997 Buick PA - 118,000

Hey all,

The 97 I drive came with all the interior options from the past owner. On the left side of the steering wheel, there are a series of 5 buttons in a vertical row; the instrument panel. All of the buttons, including odometer/ trip, fuel info, maintenance, and met/us buttons work well. The only one that doesn't is, ironically, the RESET button. This has been an issue as I've owned the car over the years and has continually gotten worse. The button pushes in fine, but won't reset anything. It will however, work on rare occasions. I was going to dismantle the dash this weekend to check for any issues, but not sure exactly what to look for. Any one else had this issue with the RESET button? What can be done to make it work effectively?

I haven't had this problem, but if I remember correctly, that bank of buttons is all connected into one piece. It may be easier to simply replace that set of buttons, rather than try to fix the one that is malfunctioning. There should be enough supply in the salvage yards to find a replacement.

Do these buttons have lights? Mind do not light up. Is the bulb replacable.
