Just another reason i love imports

Last night me and my friend got together and decided to drag. he has a 95 pontiac grand dam and i have a 87 celica gts. both are stock and expected it to be a total blow out in his favor. But as the light turned green i slamed the gas and let the clutch out and by the time i hit 2nd gear i was 1 1/2 car lengths ahead of him. as we both hit 3rd about the same time he started to gain on me but then i hit 4th and was gone. i always knew my car wasent slow but man i cant belive it beat a car 8 years newer then it.

Age don't mean squat as far as speed is concerned. The only way a car gets slower as it gets older is if it isn't maintained.

Yeah Right

The way you explained you story, isn't believable. Now I'm not saying you didn't beat him, but just that it isn't likely. There is still always the chance you beat his American crap. Just the part where you said you hit 4th gear, and beat him sounds funny, because the gear ratios of the both the cars to 4th gear would give the Grand AM an acceleration advantage, which means he would've passed you when he hit 4th. Maybe he shifted early, you still could of beat him, and I'n not saying you didn't but, I'm saying its not likely to have happened the way you explained it, unless your friend doesn't know how to race.
