99 accord auto trans

1999 accord 2.3 vtec automatic. Shift to reverse grinds and doesn't go in reverse. Shift into drive, drives and shifts fine. Transmission shot or easy fix? Thanks

Re: 99 accord auto trans

I have the same problem with a 99 Accord Auto Transmission. No reverse, grinds when shifted to reverse, fwd gears work okay. Any suggestions on what to look for?

Re: 99 accord auto trans

Unless it's just a shifter index issue, usually when a tranny won't hit reverse it's blowing off fluid pressure in that hydraulic circuit internally....since reverse usually shares some major components with other forward gears, like clutchpacks and accumulator, etc, my guess is the valve body is either leaking somewhere or possibly one of the small screens in it that deals with that circuit is plugged with debris. If that were the case you might be able to repair it with a pan drop and some minor surgery....
