flywheel replacement tutorial - '94 k1500 auto 4x4
Z71
Is there a tutorial out there for this... I'm getting a quote of about $450 to replace the flywheel but if I can do it myself, I'd rather do that... Thanks, Rod |

This is a very basic description http://www.ehow.com/how_5272678_repl...nsmission.html
A Factory Service Manual would be more specific. //2000CAYukon |

Re: flywheel replacement tutorial - '94 k1500 auto 4x4
Also, should I go ahead and replace the starter when I do this... I did put in a new starter from AutoZone last year and now I'm having thoughts that this starter might have caused the problem...
I had a hell of a time getting the starter installed correctly... with/without shim's... According to AZ, it was the correct starter but we can safely assume that they probably just don't know what they're talking about... Thoughts? |

If flywheel teeth are bad or starter is noisy or acting up yes replace the starter with an new flywheel. And use the good quality lifetime starter not a 90 day wonder. On replacing flywheel it is either pull engine or transmission. The actual time and word depends. Depending on the tools you have and transmission pulling and or engine pulling equipment you have. Also make sure the engine is not kicking back on starter causing problems in that are.

yeah, I'd rather pull the transmission then the engine... I don't believe the engine's kicking back on the starter... runs/start's pretty smooth... |
