Help with error code P1491
So, my 2003 Chrysler Voyager V6 3.3l has the Check Engine light on, the Error code P1491 displays and the radiator fans do not turn on.
I have researched the sites and have followed alot of the directions. Here is what i have done so far: - The fuse looked ok, but i bought a new one just incase and replaced it. Didn't fix it. - I located the radiator fan relay located on the bumper behind the driver side head light. Bought a new one from Auto Zone and put it on. I drilled a hole and used a sheetmetal screw to attatch it too the bumper instead of a pop rivet like the original had. Disconnected the battery and reconnected and the CE light went out. Not to long after it came back on.... - Today I took the relay off again and disconnect the harness. Looking at the connectors, on the left side there is a pair of small flat connectors and on the right side there are a pair of longer flat connectors. Example: _ _ __ __ I determined one of each set was a power and one is a ground. Using a wire, when i jump the to longer pair together and the radiator fans started. I assume that means they are the power from the Batt. I then got 2 seperate wires and went from the batt (pos & neg) and placed them on the smaller pair of connectors. The thinking was this was the output from the relay to the fans. Nothing happened. This is where i stand. Does this mean the Relay that i bought is bad? Maybe there is a wire short somewhere between the relay and the fans? or is there something else i am missing? Any help or guidance would be appreciated! thanks. |

Re: Help with error code P1491
I'm not sure on your problem, but you might get more help if this was in the minivan section.
If no one replies in a couple of days, let me know and I'll move it for you.
