Wierdness
New here, so here's my problem.
When I turn the key on my '94 3100 V6 GT the dash lights turn on, but the light on the shifter isn't on when the key gets to the run position. Also don't hear the fuel pump. Turning the key to 'crank', the engine turns over but does not start. Letting the key go back to the 'run' position you hear the fuel pump for 2 seconds. Swapping relays doesn't cure problem, all fuses are good. I've only heard this car run once, on jack stands, when I thought the problem was the fuel pump, but I don't think that's the problem. Any ideas? |

Re: Wierdness
Hummm is security light on guages on? Maybe faulty ignition switch check for spark and u say fuel pump turns on for 2 seconds after u let key turn back. check for fuel in fuel rails if i remember right there is a little tirevalve looking thing on fuel rail depress it and fuel should come out. Just remember motor need compression fuel and spark to start. So i would start troubleshooting the easiest first. Take out a sparkplug or too and see if it looks wet from gas or even if it looks like its been gettin a spark

Re: Wierdness
Thanx for reply.
Havent tried the schrader valve, I heard the motor once, and it sounded fine. Afterthought... since I noticed the wierdness with the ignition position, it hasent fired with starter fluid, but I will do a definitive check for spark. It fired with starter fluid before I heard it run. Didn't notice a 'security' light. |

Re: Wierdness
94 Grand Am with 3.1 V6 is supposed to take an OBD II tester.
BUt the tester didn't work, as in the car wouldn't communicate with the scanner. Anyone have an idea? |
