2008 Focus TDCI Accident Damaged

I bought an accident damaged car that has been hit on the front driver wing.The body work on the car is easy but sadly I have been ripped of because the car wont start and says engine malfunction.I put a OBD11 U380 memoscanner on it but it says linking error Can anyone please help? Sonia
