Unhappy car won't crank....have tried/done

Problem: turn key on and car lights etc work but car won't crank when trying to start.. (not even a click)
Battery is NEW 650CCA
car is 98 GP 3.8L (no SC)
starter is not very old (about 2 years) had tested said fine but didn't give me stats about its amp draw (possibly still may be problem)
ALL connections are clean and tight from battery /ground/starter/solenoid etc
haven't tested how many volts are going from the Ignition switch to the solenoid yet.
I've heard it may be sitting in the dead spot zone of the crank.. will spin a few degrees and retest..
anything I haven't thought to do/check would be appreciated since its our only ride (with kids)
thanks

Re: car won't crank....have tried/done

Also thought some additional info may help
I may also have a neutral safety switch problem (which may or may not directly cause the car not to crank)
and I haven't checked the internal ground yet (passenger side) from the I think ECM. Won't have time till later today to check some of this.
again thanks if you can help

It sounds like a good idea to check the starter solenoid to see if it is getting the 12 volts from the ignition circuits. It should be the purple wire. Ignition must be in start.

And welcome to AF.

If your not getting a single click like you said, your relay is not getting power or is broken. check your ignition fuse and relay first.

Re: car won't crank....have tried/done

I just had this problem. First, try to jump across the solenoid. Does it start? If it does, it's either an open wire or the ignition switch. Mine was the ignition switch. Good luck.
