2002 Neon R/T engine noise

I have an 02 Neon R/T that has 105,000 kms/62,000 miles on it. The engine when cold sounds like a diesel. Dealer says these motors 2.0 high output have more piston slap than regular motor. I think its valve train related. Anyone have/had similar experiences?

Re: 2002 Neon R/T engine noise

I had a 2.5 in a Daytona sounded like a rod bearings got a little better when it warmed up. Turned out the wrist pins in the pistons were wore down. Strange part was the holes in the pistons weren't wore much at all. They also say forged pistons will slap more than cast when cold. Valve train noises will be more of a ticking sound
