newbie timing belt question

hi...i don't know much about cars so...

is it possible to replace a timing belt with a timing chain so it lasts forever? if so, is that possible to do on an 05 civic?

I don't think it's possible. Never heard of it being done.

Just so you know, timing chains also need to be replaced. Chains stretch and wear like any other component in an engine.

Set your engine TDC on cylinder 1, and check all your timing marks befor belt removal.

Sure you could but why would you want to? There are no parts on the market to do it so you would be spending a fortune to engineer the parts. If you want a Honda with a timing chain buy a newer one.
