Re: 97 s10 4.3 codes p300&p1381

Hi and welcome to the forum. P0300 is almost always due to issues in the secondary ignition circuit. P0300 is a random Misfire code usually from faulty Distributor cap, Rotor, Spark Plug wires, spark plugs, or Ignition coil. If it has been a while since you performed a complete tune up, or if you've never done one on this truck, I would suggest that you start with new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. You must have access to a scanner to erase the codes, so I would start with this, erase the codes, and see if the codes come back.

And one more thing, replacing any of the previously mentioned parts with anything other than AC-Delco products is a complete and total waste of time and money. Do not be fooled by the people at the parts counter. Demand AC-Delco parts or walk out.

If money is an issue, start with the Distributor cap, Rotor, and plugs first.

That is a odd combination of codes.
1381 is Ebcm/Vcm NOT SENDUING SERIAL DATA.

Clear codes and see what comes back first.
How many miles and when was last tune up?
Can you feel engine misfire?
Any other codes?
Is all computers communicating with scanner?
Good fuel pressure and Good AC plugs?
