Headlight Update

Has anyone tried the HID replacement bulbs on their Roadmaster. Has anyone tried them and what results did you get?

I've noticed you can get bulbs for about $35. I've heard some say you need to add a relay. Is this true?

Well you need the bulbs, the basalts and a wiring harness with relays (If you don;t want to melt or catch your headlight harness on fire.

I had a 35 watt, 8000k temperature (white/blue in color)HID kit w/ relays and a harness in my RMS for about a week.

The stock headlight bowls (the reflectors) throws light all over the place, No sharp beam pattern at all and way too much glare to on coming drivers.

I always got oncoming traffic at night flashing their hi beams at me.

I also got pulled over several times by state, county and local police because of the glare the HID kit produced. I ended up taking them out because I was informed by a state trooper that I was in violation of some stupid corrupt Illinois law, and I was told if he saw me at night again that he would impound the car and ticket me. So out came the HID kit and the stock bulbs went back in.

The only way to get HIDs to look and work properly is to use a projector system, and that requires A LOT of modification, time and money as the parts are more expensive than the cheap kits you can get on e-bay.

Re: Headlight Update

I'm talking about the Sylvania and other brand bulbs sold as direct replacements that are available in verious "K" ratings. They don't require ballasts or relays. They're about $35-40 a pair.
