Questions for re-installation of stereo

Hi. I have a Rockford CD player that was installed in 2001. I used it for about a year and a half. Took it out when I traded the car, and it has been in a box (moisture-free) ever since. I want to have it install it in a different vehicle now. I need to know if I need a password/code. And if the stereo will even work. Thanks.
