caprice tech question

I have a '95 caprice that needs a new engine.I also have a '93 Caprice with a good 350 TBI engine/700 r4 trans. How much trouble would it be to swap the powertrain out of the '93 into the '95.Note:The '93 donor car is complete, and running well, would there be any wiring,or ecm issues, and would I have to spend a lot of extra money to do this swap?

I'm going to move this to the Caprice section for you; it's pretty active and you might get a better response.

I'll leave a redirect here though, so anyone looking here can contribute.

I don't know squat about Chevies so can't answer your question.... but I thought why not drive the 93 and park the 95 awhile? [Unless of course you're itching to do the work!]

Re: caprice tech question

Plenty of issues.... Let's see the LT1 or L99 engine in your 95 uses reverse cooling, is a MPFI engine using a PCM rather than an ECM...

whats wrong with the engine ? also what engine is in this 95 caprice ?

the LT1 5.7L engine is what many came with . this is much different than a 93 5.7L engine...to do this , the cost would be great , the performance would be much less...

Re: caprice tech question

The 95 caprice had the engine completely taken out. See my 93 9c1 caprice runs great, but it's got lots of cosmetic work and it doesn't have the nice seats and interior. And the 95 caprice was mint, the entire body and interior was flawless, and I could get it for a few hundred bucks only. So that's why I'm asking.

to do this you would have to swap out the complete engine and transmission with all the other componets including the computer , radiator etc...also the wire harness...some have done this but the reverse of what your looking to do its complicated , and with your questions I doubt you are up to this task..

find an engine that will work in this 1995...these vehicles still have a good resale value with the LT1 engine...see if you can get the smaller engine that is used for this year model...
