Have you checked the cam and crankshaft sensors?

Re: 97 3.3 caravan intermittent dies

I had the same exact problem, I cleaned the MAP sensor and problem went away, I also changed the plugs, but,the problem was still present. When it did it, I would be driving, (steady state operation), and the van would like skip once and catch itself and run normal for a while. Then once in a while it wouldnt start on the first try and it triggered the code for the MAP sensor, thats what made me clean the map sensor,i'm too cheap to buy a new one, But anyway the problem went away after the map cleaning. There is also a service bulletin for the knock sensor for what seems to me as the same symtoms as I had and the problem you describe. It tells you to remove the knock sensor altogether and stow the wires, I did that before anything but it didnt solve the problem, so I restored it to original configuration. So clean the map sensor or replace it see what happens.

My 2000 started doing the same thing just yesterday. Where is the map sensor located? In case that doesn't work where is the knock sensor? Thanks for your help.

MAP sensor is on the intake plenum right above and aft of that tree of vacum lines, on the right side of the engine. The knock sensor is on the left front side of the engine block above the oil pan and to the left of the oil filter. All are as viewed from the front looking aft.
