Sounds stupid right?
Well guess where FoMoCo F'd up.. the side mirror bolts are NOT rustproof and to make matters worse, the front bolt sits in a well that fills with water every chance it gets !!! So, before it's too late, rock your side mirrors backwards and check the front bolt for rusting. Lately we've had a rash of mirrors falling off 'cause the bolts rusted all the way through A very long time ago I did a write-up on the subject after I noticed brownish drainage from that area during a wash cycle. I posted that write-up >> here << at lincolnsonline

Re: Hey Guys, CHECK YOUR MIRROR BOLTS !!
Yup, mine did that last summer. When I taped off the entire car to repaint the window seals, I removed and noticed this common problem. Easily fixed withb nuts and bolts that I had laying around.

Re: Hey Guys, CHECK YOUR MIRROR BOLTS !!
I noticed the same problem on my 95 that I striped last year. Some stainless bolts should help wit the rust. Not at all an improvement from the old metal body mirrors from 90 to 94. The only gain is a larger mirror which is nice.
