Anybody tried Escort conversion?

Hi folks,

Was wondering if any of you rally freaks have converted the Escort Cosworth to the WRC using the Studio 27 kit.

I really fancy doing one and would love to see some pics if anybody has.

Thanks

Richie.

P.S. Oh, heres a pic of what I mean :

Never seen it before. The Martini livery looks a bit odd, though the Escort Cosworth is a great car.

Never tried this conversion... yet! I plan to do a couple at some stage in the future. There are quite a few different transkits out there, most of them difficult to find. I've got three - from S27, Renaissance and Reji. I believe DMC also make one.

Of the above the Renaissance kit is the pick of the bunch, followed by the Reji set. Worst of all is the S27 set, as it is from a few years ago when most S27 stuff sucked. Fortunately they have improved out of sight since. I've never seen the DMC kit but have heard it is not very good.

There you go, I guess it depends on which livery you're interested in as to which transkit you'll go for. One thing all of the transkits miss is the extensions on the front wheel arch.

Are you planning to do that martini version?

Hi

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not sure which version to do as yet, I saw 3 or 4 at 'mediamix', this was just the one with the best picture to illustrate what I was talking about although I have always liked the Martini liveries, ever since the Lancias.

I have attatched some pics of the WRC Escort that I built. It uses the Renaissance transkit though. Basically a new front bumper and rear wing. Assembly was fairly easy, cut off the old front bumper, glue the new one on and add filler as neccessary. The rear end required filler underneath the old wing, once set the old wing was removed and the new one glued in place.

Thanks for taking the time to post those pics.

It's a lovely model, made my mind up after seeing those and hearing that the conversion is pretty straight forward.
Gonna get one ordered.

Thanks again

Richie
