87 alternator

i bought a 1987 lebaron about a week ago, it has a brand new battery and 80,000 miles, it was barely used. i drove it relatively alot for this past week and the i accidently killed the battery, got a jump and it wont charge. itll sustain itself if i keep reving it but will eventually die. do i need to replace the alternator?

That sounds like the likely culprit. However, you can take it to most parts stores and they can check it for free.
